Individual Event - Walker (Outside)

Walker Art Center (Outside)
*My camera hasn’t been working lately. These photos are from google images*
Even though it was cold out I really liked this event.  I’ve never been to the outside area of the Walker Art Center and I was really impressed.  I would rate this as awesome.

Individual Event - Walker (Inside)

Walker Art Center (Inside)

I don’t usually like this type of art and I didn’t find any pieces I particularly liked.  I didn’t really get any meanings behind the pieces.
I would rate this as bad.

Group Event - Art Attack

Art Attack
I visited L.SHOFF jewelry studio and Goldenflow Studio.  My interviews went great and the people I talked to provided great information about their artistic background, business model, and inspiration.  I really enjoyed talking to these artists because I find their work interesting.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED BY THE STUDIOS I SAW AND THE WORK THE ARTISTS DID.  I WOULD RATE THIS EVENT AS AWESOME.

I’ve grown up going to Silverwood  Park.  My grandparents used to take us there all the time with them when they went to drink coffee in the morning.  They even called it their “country club.”  I was aware that they had sculptures but I didn’t know they had so many and how creative they were.  I was really impressed with this park.

THIS PARK HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE.  I WOULD RATE SILVERWOOD AS AWESOME images.jpg

I was sort of skeptical of how creative one could get by combining a mini golf course and a sculpture garden and make the holes sculptures.  I have to say I was really impressed by the creativity of this place.  It was a ways out but the drive was well worth it.  The way the artist used other materials to create these elaborate sculptures was really cool.  I really enjoyed this event and it is my favorite so far.

THIS EVENT WAS WELL WORTH GOING. I RATE IT AS AWESOMEimages.jpg

I had seen this sculpture park from the highway multiple times on family road trips and it looked pretty interesting from what I could see.  My family loves Sunday drives, so one Sunday we all loaded up into my car and headed out to see if it was really what it seemed.  My dad is the “artist” of the family and throughout the trip he was the one who said the least.  It turns out it wasn't really all that we thought it was going to be.  It was mostly abstract art that we didn't really understand.  At one point we went into this little clearing in the forest and saw multiple things put on trees like the rubber ducks seen above.  Once we emerged the only thing my mom could say was “that wasn't art.  That was random stuff you could buy at the dollar store tacked onto trees.  Those poor trees.”

ON A RATING SCALE THIS WOULD DEFINITELY BE RATED AS BAD download.jpg

What is Art?

What is Art?
“Art is the creative expression of your mind.”
-Maria Guzzetta

Onement VI” by Barnett Newman
Bad Art
I consider this bad art because in my mind it makes absolutely no sense. One could argue that art is subjective, that it comes from perspective. In my opinion this is bad art. Yes, I am curious as to what the artist was thinking when he painted this. If I could ask what he was thinking, it would be to see if he was crazy. The other thing that boggles my mind about this is that this painting sold for 43.8 million dollars. Who would pay that much for a blue line on a blue painting?!

“Beartooth” from Beartooth Pass
Good Art
I consider this good art, but that would be an understatement.  I consider this photo amazing.  I love the meaning behind this picture.  The tooth looking peak is what named the whole Beartooth Pass, its the Beartooth of Beartooth pass.  What also makes me love this photo is that it holds personal meaning to me, I can actually relate to this photo.  On the drive to a backpacking trip in Montana over the summer we drove Beartooth Pass and actually passed this exact spot.  It also captures most of what Montana is about.  The mountains and the snow still there late into the summer, my sister and I had a snowball fight in the middle of July near the highest point of Beartooth Pass.  This photo holds a special meaning to me making this far better than good art, this is amazing art.
